Literally, Wagyu (和牛) means Japanese Cow.

What’s so special about it?

Wagyu is known for its copious marble. Some people like it for its buttery fat that’s so soft it melts in their mouths. For others, it is over-rated for its price.

I have been wanting to try Wagyu since my sister was able to get it during her trip in Japan. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was able to get my hands on Wagyu beef from Costco — $176.98. And… I will say it is a once-a-year type of expense I am willing to spend.

I salted and peppered my Wagyu beef before searing it on a hot pan for a few minutes. This was my result.

It was the most tender meat I have ever had. It was quite fulfilling.

I hope to try Wagyu beef in Japan someday.

Thank you for reading!
