I Got More Poetry Books!
Adding to my total books, I now have 39 books to read…
I finished the majority of my poetry books and have been wanting to read more poetry for inspiration. I last (completely) read Ocean Vuong’s poetry collection: Night Sky With Exit Wounds. And I fell in love with each and every word — each word creates a musicality (the rhythm and meter) I’ve come to seek again. It evokes a striking, compassionate emotion in me and it aches my heart. His debut book is another story for a totally different day.
I am currently reading Mai Der Vang’s poetry collection Yellow Rain and am 1/3 finished with it. As I read, I thought to myself: what poetry will I read next after I finish this? I didn’t have any poet’s name in mind, so my only option was to get Poetry Foundation books to satiate my lust.
Here are the PF collections I got as shown in the above photo:
- June 2021
- July/August 2021
- September 2021
- November 2021
- December 2021
What do I hope to do with these? Well, I’m going to eventually read these. If I like a particular poet’s poem, I’m going to google stalk them for more poetry, because why not? If the poet has a collection, I’m more than likely going to add it to my list.
If you know any contemporary poetry collections or poets, feel free to link me to them in the comments. I might look into it.
Thank you for reading!
